FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about working together.
Identity/Logo
A typical identity package includes your primary logo, secondary/alternate versions (icon, wordmark, etc.), a color palette, typography selections, and basic usage guidelines — everything you need to apply your brand consistently across web, print, and marketing materials.
I present one concept — not a batch of options. Before I design anything, I take the time to really understand your organization through discovery and feedback, so the concept I present is the strongest direction based on everything I know. If it doesn’t land, we talk through what’s missing and I present a revised concept based on that clarity. This approach leads to a stronger, more considered result than choosing between several rushed options.
You’ll receive your final logo in all the formats you need — vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) for scalability, plus web-ready formats (PNG, JPG) for everyday use.
Absolutely. A logo refresh modernizes and strengthens what’s already working in your brand rather than throwing it out — often a smart move if your logo has equity and recognition but needs updating.
Yes — every identity project includes a basic brand guide covering logo usage, color, and typography, so you (or anyone else working on your materials) can apply your brand consistently.
Once your project is paid in full, you own the rights to your logo and identity, along with any finalized, print-ready files we create together. Original/source design files remain mine unless we negotiate otherwise (for an additional fee). I also retain the right to showcase the work in my portfolio unless we agree otherwise.
Branding/Strategy
A logo is a single mark — your brand is everything that mark represents: how your organization looks, sounds, and feels across every touchpoint. A strong logo is the anchor, but your brand is the full system built around it — color, typography, voice, and the overall impression you leave.
Both. Before any design work begins, I take time to understand your organization’s mission, audience, and goals — that understanding shapes the visual identity, so it’s not just something that looks good, but something that actually communicates who you are.
It comes down to discovery. I ask the right questions upfront — about your mission, your audience, what makes you different — and that groundwork is what allows me to design a single, well-considered concept rather than guessing with a batch of options.
Positioning, yes — that’s part of the strategic groundwork I do on every project. I can also help with short-form messaging like taglines and headlines. For full copywriting, I bring in trusted partners I’ve worked with for years, so your brand’s words are as strong as its visuals.
Yes. If you’re not sure what you need yet, I offer consultations to assess where you stand, talk through your goals, and help point you toward the right path — whether that’s a full project with me or just some clarity to move forward on your own.
Web
I build on WordPress, striving for clean, semantic code and easy-to-maintain sites without unnecessary bloat. While I have a preferred way of working, I can adapt to different builders when a project calls for it.
Yes — and I actually encourage it. Maintenance can be structured as an ongoing retainer or handled on an as-needed basis, depending on how often you expect to need updates.
Most website projects take about four to six weeks, depending on how quickly we’re able to move through feedback and content together.
Either works. I’m happy to build your site around content you provide, or I can bring in a trusted partner for full copywriting if you need it from scratch. I can also help with short-form content like headlines and taglines myself.
Both — I regularly redesign and rebuild existing sites, often migrating them onto a more modern, maintainable platform in the process.
Yes. Every site I build is responsive across devices and follows accessibility best practices — semantic structure, proper heading hierarchy, and thoughtful markup — not just visual polish.
I don’t host sites myself, but I can absolutely help you get set up — whether that’s pointing you toward the right hosting solution or handling the setup for you, depending on what works best for your needs.
Print/Marketing Materials
A wide range — business cards, brochures, signage, event materials, letterhead, and other marketing collateral, all designed to stay consistent with your brand identity.
I can manage the full print process for you — preparing print-ready files, working directly with your printer (or suggesting a trusted vendor if you need one), and handling uploads and ordering. Printing costs are billed directly to you, typically via credit card with your printer, and my time coordinating the process is billed on top of the project fee.
Yes — whether I built your original brand or not, I can design new print materials that align seamlessly with your existing identity, colors, and typography.
Billing/Pricing
Most projects — like logos and websites — are priced per-project rather than hourly. For maintenance, updates, or revisions to older projects, I often work on an hourly basis instead. I also offer retainer arrangements for established clients, though I prefer to complete logo and website work on a per-project basis first, since those aren’t well-suited to retainer work. Print materials, on the other hand, work well on retainer at any stage of our relationship.
I don’t offer formal discounts — my pricing is already fair and accessible. That said, I take your organization’s needs and budget into account when putting together a quote.
New clients are required to put down a deposit before work begins; established clients typically aren’t. Payment is usually split half up front and half upon completion, though larger projects — like websites — may be broken into additional phases or milestones.
It depends on the project, but larger projects are typically split half up front and half at completion, or broken into milestone-based payments as the work progresses.
Scope changes are handled through a revised estimate — I’ll let you know what the change means for timeline and cost before any additional work begins, so there are no surprises.
Everything is custom-quoted. No two organizations’ needs are exactly alike, so I price each project individually using a consistent internal pricing structure — ensuring every quote is fair and considered, not a one-size-fits-all package.
Process/Working Together
My process moves through five phases: Discovery, Proposal & Plan, Design & Development, Refinement, and Delivery. You can see the full breakdown on my Process page.
Every project includes two rounds of revisions. Anything beyond that is billed hourly.
To get started, I just need a sense of your goals, your timeline, and any existing brand materials or content you have on hand. If you’re not sure where you stand, that’s exactly what a consultation is for — we can talk through it together and figure out the right next step.
Yes — while I’m based in Philadelphia, I work with nonprofits and organizations nationwide, entirely remotely.
Small updates after a project wraps are usually handled on an hourly basis, or can be rolled into an ongoing maintenance retainer if you expect to need updates regularly.
General/About
Me, directly. Kask Creativity is a solo studio — when you work with me, you’re working with the person who’s designing your brand, not getting handed off to account managers or junior staff. For specialized needs outside my core focus (like copywriting or complex development), I bring in trusted partners I’ve worked with for years — but I stay the main point of contact throughout.
I work primarily with nonprofits, small businesses, and purpose-driven organizations across the country — clients who need more than just good design, but a brand that genuinely reflects their mission.
Two things: focus and experience. I specialize in identity and branding — it’s not one service among many, it’s the core of what I do, backed by 20+ years and 300+ logos and identities built. And I have deep roots in the nonprofit and mission-driven world, including board leadership experience — so I understand your organization’s constraints and goals, not just its aesthetics.
The best way to start is by scheduling a consultation through the form on my Contact page. From there, we can talk through your needs and figure out the right next step together.
